The Most Popular Engagement Ring Shapes

Brought to you by unique princess cut engagement ring.

There are not many types of cuts that are popular choices for engagement rings, but there are many, many choices available for each type of popular cut.

When choosing an engagement ring, if you think of such qualities as the safety of the setting, whether it will be stable when worn under daily conditions of work and play, often you will choose a simple stone or at most a ring with minor chips as embellishment for the central stone. The limitations of one stone in a secure setting- or a trio of stones mounted in the same way- and designed to be worn for any occasion, show that final selections most often favor clean, timeless cuts that can be safely mounted and give intense visual impact regardless of a modest setting.

The round cut  is the most common of all stones. Many jewelers say that round cut is the best with very best fire and all facets of the stone are taken care of. Round of cuts in what are often called “Tiffany settings or settings issue raised is the classic idea of an engagement ring: a stone that floats above the bands of the ring, with the maximum exposure of the stone to light. A tiffany setting is ideal for a good round stone. A muddy and small stone has nowhere to hide, you know.

Another very popular cut is the emerald cut, so named for the stone which is often cut into long, faceted rectangles as well. An emerald cut gives unusual and exceptionally stately option, this less flashy than the round cut and has an awesome dignity and a lot of room to show off a large stone. Also, the Princess style cut, is a square shaped cut stone, allows a 4 square, secure look with beautiful color and a lot of security that you won’t lose it. Linear cuts aren’t dangerous as long as they’re mounted correctly with the corners guarded by and the sides secured by prongs.

From a design perspective the cushion cut diamond is extremely flexible, merging well with other stones and balancing the shine and glitter of its round cut with the same dignity and grace of the linear cuts. Stones that are said to be cushion cut are stones with a rounded edge and are square or a rectangle with curved sides and the corners also rounded off.

Pear cut, or tear drop diamonds are too beautiful, but the uneven balance of the form is more difficult to utilize in a stable and ordinary setting. A solitaire needs to be set carefully so that it does not look crooked or out of balance. These beautiful gems might be more appropriate for necklaces, earrings, or rings that are designed to work alone rather that together with a wedding ring.

The Marquise, an elongated eye-shaped cut roughly oval but sharply pointed at all ends, is utilized on many occasions  in multi-stone rings. A particularly beautiful setting is a central marquise cut diamond or stone surrounded by triangular trillion cut stones.

Despite other options, diamonds remain the preferred standby because of their inherent perfection. If you master these few cuts, you have the basic knowledge of most classical engagement ring design.
